JAVANESE DANCES IN TVRI

TVRI is abbreviation of Televisi Republik Indonesia (Republic Indonesia Television).

Sometimes TVRI broadcast Indonesian Dances, especially Javanese Dances with various cultures and art.

When I met an American tourist in Jakarta, I ask him what is his impression about Indonesia? His answer was: Indonesia was rich of culture. Surely Indonesia was very rich of cultures.

Unfortunately some young generation Indonesian people did not respect to their own culture and art. May be it was influence by the global civilization, especially by the fast technology growth of entertainment..

It is better if the young generation of Indonesian people respect and learn Javanese dances and art.

Therefore, I make this simple web-blog as a warning or signal alert of the “de-culturation” Javanese dances and art.

There are many Javanese Dances e.g. “Tari Serimpi”, “Tari Gambyong”, dances in “Wayang Orang” and “Kethoprak” (Javanese Opera).
